Difference between Albert de la Chapelle and Y chromosome

Albert de la Chapelle vs. Y chromosome

Albert de la Chapelle, MD, Ph.D (born 11 February 1933 in Helsinki, Finland) is a Finnish human geneticist, long-time head of Finland's first Department of Medical Genetics at the University of Helsinki, and presently professor of Human Cancer Genetics at Ohio State University. The Y chromosome is one of two sex chromosomes (allosomes) in mammals, including humans, and many other animals.

Similarities between Albert de la Chapelle and Y chromosome

Albert de la Chapelle and Y chromosome have 7 things in common (in Unionpedia): Human genome, Karyotype, Meiosis, Mosaic (genetics), Turner syndrome, X chromosome, XX male syndrome.

Human genome

The human genome is the complete set of nucleic acid sequences for humans, encoded as DNA within the 23 chromosome pairs in cell nuclei and in a small DNA molecule found within individual mitochondria.

Karyotype

A karyotype is the number and appearance of chromosomes in the nucleus of a eukaryotic cell.

Meiosis

Meiosis (from Greek μείωσις, meiosis, which means lessening) is a specialized type of cell division that reduces the chromosome number by half, creating four haploid cells, each genetically distinct from the parent cell that gave rise to them.

Mosaic (genetics)

In genetics, a mosaic, or mosaicism, involves the presence of two or more populations of cells with different genotypes in one individual, who has developed from a single fertilized egg.

Turner syndrome

Turner syndrome (TS), also known as 45,X or 45,X0, is a condition in which a female is partly or completely missing an X chromosome.

X chromosome

The X chromosome is one of the two sex-determining chromosomes (allosomes) in many organisms, including mammals (the other is the Y chromosome), and is found in both males and females.

XX male syndrome

XX male syndrome is a rare congenital condition where an individual with a female genotype has phenotypically male characteristics that can vary between cases.
