Mbuyisa Makhubu (born 1957 or 1958) is the 18-year-old South African school boy seen carrying Hector Pieterson in a famous photograph taken by Sam Nzima after the latter was shot during the Soweto Uprising in 1976. [1]

Hector Pieterson (19 August 1963 – 16 June 1976) was a South African schoolboy who was shot and killed during the Soweto uprising, when police opened fire on students protesting the enforcement of teaching in Afrikaans.
