9HD is an Australian television channel, owned by Nine Entertainment Co., originally launched on 17 March 2008 featuring unique "breakaway" programming until 2009 and a HD simulcast of the Nine Network from 2009-2010 and again since 26 November 2015. Simulcast, a portmanteau of simultaneous broadcast, is the broadcasting of programs or events across more than one medium, or more than one service on the same medium, at exactly the same time (that is, simultaneously).
