Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Porokhovschikov(Rus: Александр Александрович Пороховщиков) (1892–1941/43) was Russian military engineer, tank and aircraft inventor, known mostly for the development of Vezdekhod, the first tank (resembling modern tankette) in 1914-1915. The history of the tank began in World War I, when armoured all-terrain fighting vehicles were first deployed as a response to the problems of trench warfare, ushering in a new era of mechanized warfare.
