The Battle of Britain (German: Luftschlacht um England, literally "Air battle for England") is the name given to the Second World War air campaign waged by the German Air Force (Luftwaffe) against the United Kingdom during the summer and autumn of 1940. Air Vice Marshal Henry Meyrick Cave-Browne-Cave CB, DSO, DFC, RAF (1 February 1887 – 5 August 1965) was an engineering officer in the Royal Naval Air Service during World War I and senior commander in the Royal Air Force during the 1930s.
