Mary Elizabeth Truss (born 26 July 1975), known as Liz Truss, is a British Conservative Party politician and Chief Secretary to the Treasury who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for South West Norfolk since 2010. R (Miller) v Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union is a legal case decided by the United Kingdom Supreme Court on 24 January 2017, which ruled that the UK Government (the executive) may not initiate withdrawal from the European Union by formal notification to the Council of the European Union as prescribed by Article 50 of the Treaty on European Union without an Act of the UK Parliament permitting the government to do so.
