Difference between Radar and Zaslon

Radar vs. Zaslon

Radar is an object-detection system that uses radio waves to determine the range, angle, or velocity of objects. The Russian (former USSR) BRLS-8B "Zaslon" (Barrier) is an all-weather multimode airborne radar developed between 1975 and 1980 by the Tikhomirov Scientific Research Institute of Instrument Design as part of the weapons control system of the MiG-31 supersonic interceptor.

Similarities between Radar and Zaslon

Radar and Zaslon have 12 things in common (in Unionpedia): Active electronically scanned array, Airborne early warning and control, L band, List of radars, Look-down/shoot-down, Mikoyan MiG-31, Nap-of-the-earth, Passive electronically scanned array, Pulse-Doppler radar, Radar cross-section, Soviet Union, X band.

Active electronically scanned array

An active electronically scanned array (AESA), is a type of phased array antenna, that is a computer-controlled array antenna in which the beam of radio waves can be electronically steered to point in different directions without moving the antenna.

Airborne early warning and control

An airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) system is an airborne radar picket system designed to detect aircraft, ships and vehicles at long ranges and perform command and control of the battlespace in an air engagement by directing fighter and attack aircraft strikes.

Look-down/shoot-down

A radar system has look-down/shoot-down capability if it can detect, track and guide a weapon to an air target moving below the horizon as seen by the radar.

Passive electronically scanned array

A passive electronically scanned array (PESA), also known as passive phased array, is a phased array antenna, that is an antenna in which the beam of radio waves can be electronically steered to point in different directions, in which all the antenna elements are connected to a single transmitter (such as a magnetron, a klystron or a travelling wave tube) and/or receiver.

Pulse-Doppler radar

A pulse-Doppler radar is a radar system that determines the range to a target using pulse-timing techniques, and uses the Doppler effect of the returned signal to determine the target object's velocity.
