The 2012 Supercopa de España was a two-legged Spanish football match-up that took place on 23 and 29 August 2012 between the champions of 2011–12 La Liga, Real Madrid, and the winner of the 2011–12 Copa del Rey, Barcelona. Kepler Laveran de Lima Ferreira (born 26 February 1983), known as Pepe, is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays as a centre back for Turkish club Beşiktaş and the Portugal national team. During his professional career he has played for Marítimo, Porto and Real Madrid, with individual and team success with the latter two clubs. He won three league titles, three European Cups and played 334 games for Real Madrid. An aggressive, physically strong and tenacious defender, Pepe is known for his hard-tackling style of play. However, despite his defensive abilities, he has also drawn criticism due to his tendency to pick up cards, as he has occasionally shown violent or unsportsmanlike behaviour, which includes diving,. Raphaël Varane

Raphaël Xavier Varane (born 25 April 1993) is a French professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Spanish club Real Madrid and the France national team. He previously played for French club Lens and, ahead of the 2010–11 season, began training with the senior team and appeared on the bench in several league matches. On 7 November 2010, Varane made his professional debut in a league match against Montpellier. After one season with the French club, as a professional footballer, Varane joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2011.
