Difference between Exposure value and F-number

Exposure value vs. F-number

In photography, exposure value (EV) is a number that represents a combination of a camera's shutter speed and f-number, such that all combinations that yield the same exposure have the same EV (for any fixed scene luminance). The f-number of an optical system (such as a camera lens) is the ratio of the system's focal length to the diameter of the entrance pupil.

Similarities between Exposure value and F-number

Exposure value and F-number have 15 things in common (in Unionpedia): American National Standards Institute, Aperture, APEX system, Depth of field, Dimensionless quantity, Exposure (photography), Film speed, Illuminance, Kodak, Light meter, Luminance, Photography, Reciprocity (photography), Shutter speed, Sunny 16 rule.

American National Standards Institute

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is a private non-profit organization that oversees the development of voluntary consensus standards for products, services, processes, systems, and personnel in the United States.

Exposure (photography)

In photography, exposure is the amount of light per unit area (the image plane illuminance times the exposure time) reaching a photographic film or electronic image sensor, as determined by shutter speed, lens aperture and scene luminance.
