Vladimir Aleksenko

Vladimir Avramovich Aleksenko (Владимир Аврамович Алексенко; 27 January 1923 – 16 June 1995) was an attack aviation squadron and regimental commander during the Great Patriotic War and a double Hero of the Soviet Union. He was awarded his first Hero of the Soviet Union award for making 230 attack sorties. His second award was for making another 72 attack sorties. During World War II, Aleksenko made a total of 292 attack sorties. Aleksenko became a Lieutenant general postwar after graduation from the Military Academy of the General Staff. Between 1967 and 1974, he commanded the 5th Air Army.
