The French Army, officially the Ground Army (Armée de terre) (to distinguish it from the French Air Force, Armée de L'air or Air Army) is the land-based and largest component of the French Armed Forces. The Garibaldi Legion (official name 4e régiment de marche du 1er étranger) was a unit of the French Foreign Legion which formed the Marching Regiment of the Foreign Legion composed entirely all of Italian citizens, who fought in France in World War I against the Germans.
