Ivan Yakovlevich Bilibin (p; – 7 February 1942) was a 20th-century illustrator and stage designer who took part in the Mir iskusstva, contributed to the Ballets Russes, co-founded the Union of Russian Painters (Сою́з ру́сских худо́жников) and from 1937 was a member of the Artists' Union of the USSR. Russian Fairy Tales (Народные Русские Сказки, variously translated; English titles include also Russian Folk Tales), is a collection of nearly 600 fairy and folktales, collected and published by Alexander Afanasyev between 1855 and 1863.
