Difference between Maximal evenness and Minor scale

Maximal evenness vs. Minor scale

In diatonic set theory, maximal evenness is a quality of a collection or scale in which every generic interval has either one or two consecutive (adjacent) specific intervals—in other words a scale that is "spread out as much as possible." This property was first described by music theorist John Clough and mathematician Jack Douthett in "Maximally Even Sets" (1991). In music theory, the term minor scale refers to three scale formations – the natural minor scale (or Aeolian mode), the harmonic minor scale, and the melodic minor scale (ascending or descending) – rather than just one as with the major scale.

Similarities between Maximal evenness and Minor scale

Maximal evenness and Minor scale have 4 things in common (in Unionpedia): Augmented second, Major second, Music theory, Semitone.

Augmented second

In classical music from Western culture, an augmented second is an interval that, in equal temperament, is sonically equivalent to a minor third, spanning three semitones, and is created by widening a major second by a chromatic semitone.
