Difference between Neural crest and Neuroglia

Neural crest vs. Neuroglia

Neural crest cells are a temporary group of cells unique to chordates of the group Cristozoa that arise from the embryonic ectoderm cell layer, and in turn give rise to a diverse cell lineage—including melanocytes, craniofacial cartilage and bone, smooth muscle, peripheral and enteric neurons and glia. Neuroglia, also called glial cells or simply glia, are non-neuronal cells in the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) and the peripheral nervous system.

Similarities between Neural crest and Neuroglia

Neural crest and Neuroglia have 8 things in common (in Unionpedia): Cell (biology), Embryo, List of human cell types derived from the germ layers, Neural tube, Peripheral nervous system, Radial glial cell, Satellite glial cell, Schwann cell.

Cell (biology)

The cell (from Latin cella, meaning "small room") is the basic structural, functional, and biological unit of all known living organisms.

Embryo

An embryo is an early stage of development of a multicellular diploid eukaryotic organism.

List of human cell types derived from the germ layers

This is a list of cells in humans derived from the germ layers, which includes the ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm.

Neural tube

In the developing chordate (including vertebrates), the neural tube is the embryonic precursor to the central nervous system, which is made up of the brain and spinal cord.

Peripheral nervous system

The peripheral nervous system (PNS) is one of the two components of the nervous system, the other part is the central nervous system (CNS).

Radial glial cell

Radial glial cells are bipolar-shaped cells that span the width of the cortex in the developing vertebrate central nervous system (CNS) and serve as primary progenitor cells capable of generating neurons, astrocytes, and oligodendrocytes.

Satellite glial cell

Satellite glial cells are glial cells that cover the surface of nerve cell bodies in sensory, sympathetic, and parasympathetic ganglia.

Schwann cell

Schwann cells (named after physiologist Theodor Schwann) or neurolemmocytes are the principal glia of the peripheral nervous system (PNS).
